‘RBI has done its best’

Hyderabad, April 29

Mr Tarun Kataria, Managing Director and Head of Global Banking and Markets, HSBC India and Chairman, HSBC Securities and Capital Markets, says: “Given that external factors are contributing to domestic inflation, the RBI has done the best it could. It’s important to, at a minimum, to manage inflationary expectations. It is a tough balancing act, taking measures to manage inflationary expectations without negatively impacting growth. If any action was warranted, then this was an appropriate one.”
