Tiruchi, April 30 Maruti Suzuki organised a ‘Gramin Mahotsav’ here on Wednesday taking a step forward in its rural initiative.

As part of the function, the Regional Manager, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, Chennai, Mr G.P. Chadha, handed over the keys of Maruti Suzuki vehicles to about 15 customers of rural areas, who purchased the cars under the Maruti Suzuki Panchayat Scheme.

Besides senior Maruti Suzuki officials, the function was attended by people hailing from 40 villages, including the representatives of the local bodies.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Chadha said that Maruti has taken special initiative to provide the best possible services to make the dream of the rural people of owning a car come true.

The company’s initiatives in rural areas over the last few years like special extension counters with sales and service facilities in rural locations, dedicated rural marketing team, attractive sales schemes exclusively for rural customers, have helped improve its rural presence.

The company has tied up with national and regional banks and also with non-banking financial players to bring easy financing to its rural customers.

These initiatives have been supported by numerous schemes. The company has consciously highlighted its strength of after-sales service network with over 2,600 workshops that span across 1,200 towns and small cities.

He said the ‘panchayat scheme’ was launched by Maruti Suzuki for tapping the unexplored rural market. The scheme is a big hit with over 26,000 vehicles sold. Of these 1,000 cars were marketed in Tamil Nadu.
