New design chief at HAL

Bangalore, May 2 Mr Naresh Chandra Agarwal has taken charge as the new Director-Design and Development at Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL). He comes in the place of Mr M.S. Nadgir, who has superannuated, the defence PSU said in a release. "With so many design projects in fixed and rotary wing, my focus will be on consolidation to effectively manage and organise teams to move ahead in all projects. The consolidation mode will also ensure meeting time schedules," Mr Agarwal said after assuming office on Thursday. He was GM (Accessories Division) Lucknow prior to the appointment and has been associated with the development of the IJT, LCA and the Jaguar upgrade. Mr Agarwal is a mechanical engineer from IIT-Kanpur and joined HAL as design trainee. He joined the R&D Centre, Lucknow, where he spent 27 years in the design and development of aerospace systems and equipment. - Our Bureau
