Nalco gets Navratna status

Kolkata, April 30

The public sector unit National Aluminium Company Ltd (Nalco) has been granted Navratna status, according to an official memorandum released by the Department of Public Enterprises, Government of India. The second phase of Nalco's expansion with an investment of more than Rs 5,000 crore is scheduled to be completed by the year-end. The company also plans to set up smelter and power plants in Indonesia and South Africa. - Our Bureau
