Tea Prices firm at Kochi tea sale Our Bureau Kochi May 4 Prices generally remained firm at the Kochi tea auction which witnessed fair amount of export enquiry for bolder dust tea grades. While there was good enquiry for smaller CTC leaf varieties from inter-State buyers, exporters were selective in the leaf category. There was 9.64 lakh kg of dust tea on offer at the auction and the prices of CTC varieties eased by Rs 1-2. Quotes for orthodox varieties also eased at the market. Best CTC varieties quoted Rs 61-73, medium CTC ranged at Rs 57-60 and below medium fetched Rs 50-52. High grown BOPD ranged at Rs 79-100 while medium BOPD was at Rs 49-51. Leaf SaleOrthodox leaf market remained barely steady, easing by Rs 1-2. Smaller broken and fannings were steady to dearer. There was good enquiry for smaller CTCs from interstate buyers. Best Nilgiri varieties fetched Rs 73-90, medium orthodox ranged at Rs 63-77 while plain orthodox quoted Rs 50-55. Best CTC leaf realised Rs 58-61 and medium CTC leaf was at Rs 48-55. Top PricesIn the dust segment, Kodanad BOPD fetched the top price at Rs 100 followed by Pasuparai SFD at Rs 83, Pasuparai FD at Rs 79 and Parkside BOPD at Rs 79. In the leaf category Glendale CLOP fetched the top price at Rs 132 followed by Karibetta TGFOP at Rs 128, Havukal OP at Rs 128 and Parkside FOP at Rs 126. More Stories on : Tea
