People States - Tamil Nadu Three information commissioners appointed The Government had decided to raise the strength of State Information Commissioners from two to six. Our Bureau Coimbatore, May 4 The Tamil Nadu Government has announced the appointment of three State Information Commissioners (SICs) to cope with the increased work load of the commission. A Government Order issued by the State Chief Secretary, Mr L.K. Tripathy, said initially the Government had constituted the Tamil Nadu Information Commission (under the Right to Information Act, 2005) with one State Chief Information Commissioner and two State Information Commissioners. To cope with the increased work load, the Government had decided to raise the strength of State Information Commissioners from two to six and orders were issued in this regard in April. The Government has appointed Dr R. Perumalsamy, member (retired), Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission, Chennai; Mr T. Srinivasan, retired Additional Director of Statistics, Chennai; and Dr Sarada Nambi Arooran, retired Principal of Government Arts College for Women, Salem; as the State Information Commissioners in the Tamil Nadu Information Commission. The order said the Commissioners would hold office for a term of five years from the date of assuming office or till the date on which they attain sixty five years of age, whichever is earlier.
