MMTC jewellery expo from today

Chennai, May 6

Public sector trading company MMTC Ltd, along with Gitanjali Group, Union Bank of India and World Gold Council will organise a five-day jewellery exhibitioncum- sale in Chennai starting on Wednesday at Hotel Accord Metropolitan. Called `Festival of India,' this is the first time the company is hosting an exhibition in Chennai, Mr S. Guruswamy, Chief General Manager, MMTC, said at a press conference. "We have timed it with the onset of Akshaya Tritiya and hope to generate sales of about Rs 15 crore," he said. The event will showcase over 50,000 pieces of BIS hallmarked gold and studded jewellery from across India, including contemporary, ethnic, traditional and modern jewellery designs. MMTC's home-grown brand of silver jewellery `Sanchi' (with 92.5 per cent pure silver) will also be featured at the event. Additionally, gold and silver medallions and gold bars ranging from 100 gm to 1 kg will also be available for sale. - Our Bureau
