To help in technology deployment, improve returns

Hyderabad, May 6 Enterprise software maker SAP and Satyam Computer Services on Tuesday announced a new partnership to help businesses accelerate their technology deployment and improve their return on investment.

Under this agreement, Satyam has become a SAP global services partner to help Fortune 1000 companies worldwide to implement SAP solutions and transform business processes.

This will also mean setting up centres of excellence.

While the announcement was made at SAPPHIRE 2008 — SAP’s international customer conference being held in Orlando, Florida on May 4-7 — Satyam’s Director and Senior Vice-President and Global Head SAP, Mr Manish Mehta, said “This move brings us closer and provides us with greater access to SAP.”

“The company now has the third largest SAP practice after IBM and Accenture, employing about 5,300 people and with plans to step this up to 7,000 by the end of fiscal year. We see immense opportunities in verticals of manufacturing, retail, consumer electronics and semiconductor business,” he told Business Line, speaking from Orlando.

Mr Mehta said Satyam joins a select group of large consultancies in the SAP Global Partner Services programme and will invest in joint marketing resources and strategic planning to support the growth with SAP and serve customers worldwide.

SAP is aggressively looking at expanding in West Asia, Latin America and CIS countries and at business growth in emerging markets.

Satyam has trained a sizeable pool of consultants in SAP value engineering and business transformation services.

Satyam had earlier signed as one of the first accredited strategic partners for SAP in West Asia and North Africa region.
