Galla Foods launches mango drink

Hyderabad, May 6

Eyeing the Rs 1,500-crore packaged fruit beverage market, Galla Foods Pvt Ltd, an Amara Raja group company, has launched a mango beverage. Galla Thick Mango nectar will be available in bottles of 200 ml and 400 ml in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka in the next few weeks. Addressing a press conference after launching the product, Mr Ramachandra N. Galla, Chairman, said the company has set up a beverage facility with a capacity of 7.3 lakh litres a month. “We are planning to make it available across the country by 2009. We are looking at a presence in 150 cities,” he said. Galla Foods, which recorded a sales turnover of Rs 18 crore in 2006-07, closed 2007-08 at Rs 40.50 crore. “There is a declining trend in the consumption of cola beverages in India. This has created growth opportunities for fresh fruit juice,” Mr Satish Rajagopalan, Head (Sales and Marketing) said. The company is planning to introduce multiple mango variants and offer other fruit juices.
