Singapore Airlines hikes fuel surcharge from May 12

Our Bureau

New Delhi, May 7 Singapore Airlines and its 100 per cent subsidiary, Silk Air are to increase the fuel surcharge from May 12 this year. In a statement, the airline has said that a passenger will be charged an additional $15 for one-way travel and $30 on a return ticket between India and Singapore.

The airline has said that it was increasing the fuel surcharge as there has been a sustained escalation in the price of jet fuel in recent months.

“The price of jet fuel has increased sharply in recent weeks, and is now over $140 per barrel,” the statement adds.

The airline operates 57 weekly flights to 10 Indian cities.
