Letters Work-home balance The article on balancing work and home (Business Line, May 7) seems to have missed a crucial point. While the need for both the spouses to work has been attributed to the increased cost of living, there is a flip side to this. Both the male and the female species performed their respective duties effectively. But there came a situation when the female was looked down upon by virtue of her duties. Performing household chores was not considered as prestigious as going to work or as necessary for the smooth running of household. This was precisely the reason why the female species decided to enter the man’s world, namely the workplace and get her share of life. The solution as offered by the author seems biased. Why is it that only the wife needs to consider the option of quitting? When both the spouse are earning equally, why not the husband quit their jobs and take care of the home? Harine.
