Chennai, May 8 Go-Frugal Technologies, a Chennai-based software product company, has developed a low-cost solution for small and medium size retailers using the application platform of Sun Microsystems. Both companies would jointly take the retail solution for SMEs across the country.

The solution will cost around Rs 1 lakh. This includes point of sale systems, back-end servers and storage infrastructure, networking, implementation costs, software licences and support. “There is now a compelling proposition for the small retailers to automate their billing, procurement, inventory management, accounting and customer relationship management needs,” Mr Priyadarshi Mohapatra, Director, Retail Practice, Sun Microsystems India.

Go-Frugal’s RayMedi solution will utilise the entire range of Sun’s product portfolio. About 95 per cent of the $300-billion Indian retail market was SMEs who need to adopt technology to increase their share of the Indian retail pie and improve profitability, he said.

Mr V. Kumar, Co-CEO, Go-Frugal, said the company integrates computing, telecommunication and Internet technologies for complete automation of retail and distribution business. The company today manages over 4,000 retail and retail distribution businesses such as supermarket, departmental stores, pharmacy and garment.
