Collabera likely to double headcount in next few years

Sankar Radhakrishnan

Thiruvananthapuram, May 8 IT services company Collabera expects to add over 3,000 employees to its India operations over the next few years, said Mr Jawahar Bekay, the company’s Chief Strategy Officer.

Formerly known as Global Consultants Inc, the privately held Collabera currently has 1,500 employees in India, spread across three development centres in Bangalore, Baroda and Thiruvananthapuram. It has just added additional capacity in its Bangalore centre, he added.

In Thiruvananthapuram, where it has over 300 employees, the company is in the process of adding at least another 300 employees to its rolls, Mr Bekay said in an e-mail. The company is also setting up a modern facility at Technopark Thiruvananthapuram, he added.

The company obtained its Thiruvananthapuram facility when it acquired the Technopark Thiruvananthapuram-based IVL in 2006. This acquisition enabled the company to significantly augment its ERP practice, he pointed out.

Expansion plans

“We continue to explore the option of expanding to other cities,” Mr Bekay said. The company has been exploring cities such as Ahmedabad, Coimbatore, Hyderabad and Pune, but has “no firm plans and timelines at this point”, he added,

The company’s objective is to develop each of its centres in India to support specialised capabilities, Mr Bekay explained.
