Minerals Corporate - Mergers & Acquisitions States - Tamil Nadu India Cements takes Alagappa mines on lease Our Correspondent Ariyalur, May 9 India Cements has taken over the Alagappa Lime Stone Mines spread over 21 hectares at Pudupalayam near Ariyalur on a 20-year lease. It has committed to invest Rs 7 crore for executing schemes on environment, social infrastructure and education. At a meeting conducted by the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board recently, , the Senior Deputy Chairman of India Cements, Mr Tirumeni, said that the schemes encompass safeguarding groundwater from pollution, replenishing aquifer, providing drinking water, conducting medical camps, strengthening school infrastructure, and construction of roads and bridges. Mr Tirumeni said the company intends to mine 42 tonnes of lime.
