Our Bureau

New Delhi, May 8 Archies, a major player in the social expression industry, has entered into an exclusive licensing agreement with UK’s Paper Island to market and distribute its flagship brand Fizzy Moon in India.

The move would also strengthen Archies’ share in the social expression industry in India, of which it already occupies more than 60 per cent market share.

With products spanning under greetings, magnets, mugs and so on, Archies will target to increase its product portfolio in the greet and gift segment. Archies would market and distribute the Fizzy Moon brand through exclusive its stores.

Fizzy Moon products are very popular across Europe and feature a cute bear character, with his signature pink button stitched onto its tummy.

“Archies has pioneered the concept of greeting and gifting in India and being a leader in the industry, it is imperative today to innovate. We have realised the potential in the market and our extensive network of stores, along with the booming retail market, is going to provide the right platform to the brand to flourish in India,” Mr Anil Moolchandani, CMD, Archies, said.

According to Ms Jo Hockett, Paper Island spokesperson, “We strongly believe in the Indian market and we think we have the right partners to promote our brand here, we share the same vision and our products would definitely find acceptance here with the right mix of strategy from our partners”.

Riding on its experience of producing quality greetings and the foothold in the industry, Archies has also been entrusted to design and produce cards and stationery items specifically for the Indian market, under a special license with Paper Island.

Archies Ltd is expected to close its financial year 2007-08 with about Rs 118-crore turnover.

Archies already has tie-ups with leading international brands such as Carlton Cards, Expressions Gifts Co (UK), Russberrie (UK) — a designer company and pioneers in soft toys, to source gifts.
