Strategy Alcome Perfumes’ new unit New Delhi, May 8 US-based Alcome Perfumes and Cosmetics is tapping the Indian cosmetics and toiletries market. The company, which has roped in Bollywood actor Bipasa Basu as its brand ambassador, is expanding its portfolio in India through direct-selling mode and retail chains. The Indian subsidiary of the company, Alcome Perfumes and Cosmetics PLC, has two manufacturing units at Noida and Bhiwadi and a new unit is coming up in Noida SEZ with an investment of Rs 100 crore to be operational by year-end. The company plans to sell products worth Rs 150 crore in India besides close to Rs 100 crore coming from exports, Mr Hansraj Manghani, Managing Director, Alcome Perfume and Cosmetic PLC, told reporters. It currently manufactures fragrances in India for exporting to 68 countries.
