Advertising Brand Portrait co-founder leaves to set up new agency Sravanthi Challapalli Chennai, May 8 Mr B.S. Raj Narain, one of the four founders of Chennai-based ad agency Brand Portrait, has left it to set up his own outfit called Optima 24 x 7. Speaking to Business Line, Mr Narain said most of the team and most of the accounts had moved with him. These include various businesses of Dhanush Technologies, Star Health Insurance, TVS Electronics and TVS Infotech. In the couple of months that Optima has been in existence, it has also acquired more clients including Nippo Batteries, a new brand from the Gold Winner stable; X One, a wireless music business; India Music Info, in the business of digital downloads; and some work from DirecTV and HSBC Bank in New York targeting Indians living in the US. Asked why he left Brand Portrait, Mr Narain said, “There was a disconnect in the meeting of minds. I wanted to focus more on the global deliveries of the ad agency model I envisaged — brand management, lead generation, customer conversion.” When Business Line contacted Mr Venu Gopal Nair, one of the other founders of Brand Portrait, for a comment, he said that a few of the accounts had moved, and not all. “Great Lakes, Verizon and Apollo Hospitals are still our clients. The far more qualified people are still on board, and most of the creative team is with us. Brand Portrait’s business will continue,” he said. More Stories on : Advertising | People
