Tea Mixed trend at Kochi tea auction Our Bureau Kochi, May 8 There was a fair amount of buying interest in leaf teas from exporters at the Kochi tea auction. They mainly operated in the orthodox grades and whole leaf grades were their favoured choice. CTC leaf elicited interest from both exporters and interstate buyers. Exporters and inter-State buyers were active in the bolder CTC dust varieties as well. There was 10,11,000 kg of dust tea on offer which elicited good demand. Price of CTC varieties generally eased by Rs 1-2, while bolder CTCs were barely steady. Orthodox high grown dust was steady, while medium orthodox remained firm to dearer. Best CTC varieties commanded Rs 60-70, medium CTC was at Rs 56-59 and below medium was at Rs 50-53. High grown BOPD fetched Rs 90-99, medium BOPD was at Rs 47-52 and secondaries quoted Rs 40-42. Leaf SaleHigh grown orthodox whole leaf grades remained steady while bolder high grown broken and fannings eased marginally. Smaller broken varieties quoted lower. Medium orthodox and whole leaf grades were firm to dearer. Price of CTC varieties eased by Rs 1-2 while best CTC fanning were up by Rs 4-6. Best Nilgiri broken fetched Rs 70-90, medium orthodox was at Rs 65-85 and plain orthodox ranged at Rs 50-55. More Stories on : Tea
