New Products & Services Info-Tech - Telecommunications States - Tamil Nadu Tata Indicom unveils home walky talky Our Correspondent Madurai, May 9 Telecom service provider Tata Indicom has launched its ‘New Walky Talky’ in home-phone category here on Friday. The handset, priced at Rs 1,299 upfront carries enhanced features such as caller line identification, speaker phone, caller ID, large phone book and polyphonic ring tones. Activation kits are available in prepaid and post-paid at Rs 200 and Rs 100, respectively. Launching the new handset, Mr Srinivas Rao Sarapalli, Circle Operating Officer, Tamil Nadu Circle, Tata Teleservices Ltd, said the wireless set was more than a landline and carried all features of a mobile phone. It provided enhanced voice clarity and convenience of use. Tariff planOffering an advantage in tariff to customers, the new handset under One Nation plan, provided the services of dialling eight digit numbers in addition to Tata Indicom’s 10 digit numbers. While the post-paid service is available instantly, the prepaid service would be made available in a fortnight, he said. “We have a licence to operate in Jammu and Kashmir and the operations would be started very soon,” he added.
