SEC Industries, Hyderabad, has been selected for the National Award for defence technology absorption for 2008 by the Union Defence Ministry.

The award would be presented by the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, in New Delhi as part of the National Technology Day on May 12.

The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), under the Ministry, gives annual awards to outstanding contributions from its scientists and industry contributions to defence technology development.

SEC Industries has specialised in aerospace and defence sector, building indigenous component and sub-systems.

It has been able to constantly absorb and implement appropriate technologies, upgrade plant and machinery to meet global standards, said Mr D. Vidyasagar, Managing Director.

The company has recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Israel Aircraft Industries, a leading player in the field of advanced missile systems.

This association would catapult the company into a privileged technology plane and set standards for future growth, he said in a press release.
