BHEL, AP Genco pact for Vizag unit

Hyderabad, May 9

AP Genco and BHEL are set to enter into a memorandum of understanding for a 125-MW integrated gasification combined cycle power plant at the Vijayawada Thermal Power Station. The MoU will be signed in the presence of the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, at Vizag on Saturday. The Rs 950- crore project would include Rs 420 crore for coal gassifier and gas clean up system. According to a statement from AP Genco here today, this technology has potential to generate electricity at higher efficiency levels and substantially reduce impact on the environment. - Our Bureau
