Blue Star may set up its 6th manufacturing facility

New Delhi, May 9 Backed by a buoyant demand from the infrastructure and retail industry, central air conditioning and commercial refrigeration major Blue Star is examining the possibility of setting up its sixth manufacturing facility. The company’s fifth manufacturing in Wada in Maharashtra will be operational in two months.

“The air conditioning and refrigeration market is on an upswing due to growth in the infrastructure and retail sectors. We are creating capacities to keep up with the demand,” Mr T. Gouri Sankara Babu, Deputy Managing Director Blue Star told newspersons.

The company is looking for land in Uttarakhand to set up its sixth plant.

“The company’s board is yet to give its approval for the new plant,” he said adding, “it our intention to start construction once we get necessary approvals”.

Blue Star, which launched an array of eco-friendly and energy-efficient variable refrigerant flow (VRF) air conditioning system here on Friday, said, it is looking at a turnover of Rs 2,200 crore as against Rs 1,600 crore in the last fiscal. The company’s other facilities are in Thane, Bharuch, Dadra and Amb.

Speaking on its yet to be commissioned plant in Wada, Mr Babu said it will manufacture central air conditioning equipment and air and telecom handling equipment. Besides this , it is also looking at setting up an export oriented unit (EOU) in the same premises.

“We want to increase our export and this will give teeth to it,” he added.
