Retailing Info-Tech - Software Manthan Systems to focus on Indian retail market K. V. Kurmanath Hyderabad, May 9 With the organised retail industry ramping up in India, Manthan Systems is focussing on increasing its revenues from the country. The Bangalore-based company, which is into business intelligence solutions for the retail industry, aims to increase its share from Indian market to 5 per cent from the present negligible volume. The company registered revenues of $15 million in 2007-08. “We study and analyse the tactical, operational, and strategic decision challenges of the retail companies. We help them in their decision-making process,” Mr Atul Jalan, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, told Business Line. Mr Jalan was here to attend the two-day ReTechCon (Retail Technology Conclave) organised by the Retailers Association of India (RAI). The company’s clients included Carrefour, McDonald’s and Total hypermarkets. Stating that appetite for specialised information technology-based products, Mr Jalan said that intuitive intelligence would not be sufficient for retailers who wanted to scale up. They need to understand the needs, potential and challenges as they expand to different locations. “Business intelligence and analytical information technology solutions come in handy for them,” he explained. The five-year-old company received two rounds of funding from IDG Ventures and DFG ePlanet. More Stories on : Retailing | Software
