CII agenda for better growth

Our Bureau

Coimbatore, May 11 The newly-elected Chairman of CII (Coimbatore zone), Mr C.N. Ashok, expressed the imperative need for industries in this region to scale up in terms of size, turnover and business outlook.

Sharing his views with media persons, Mr Ashok said “There is scope for leveraging competencies, brand equities and capital base to catapult the companies in this region to bigger league.” The CII therefore has set its agenda “on accelerated growth”.

Emphasising the need to scale up for sustainable and inclusive growth, he said “While the model is in place, scaling up has to happen. The CII will work towards this agenda this year.”

Star trek

In yet another initiative, the CII has brought out a publication ‘Star Trek’ featuring 101 successful entrepreneurs in Tamil Nadu. “One third of the selected entrepreneurs are from Coimbatore,” Mr Ashok said.

To promote and celebrate inclusive entrepreneurship, the industry association has proposed to organise a series of programmes, which include skill development initiatives through industry-institute partnership, tapping the agri business potential by focusing on farm mechanisation programmes, post harvest technologies and agri-marketing, showcasing the opportunities in the KPO and EPO (Engineering Process Outsourcing) space for IT sector, business potential in the entertainment and hospitality space.

In line with its theme for the year, CII (Coimbatore zone) has proposed to organise the HR Conclave later this month.
