Jeera futures hit lower circuit

Mumbai, May 12 Jeera hit the lower circuit of 3.04 per cent at Rs 11,350 per quintal on profit booking after the recent rally. Jeera prices in the spot markets remained weak due to lack of demand.

Guarseed and gum prices fell 1.6 per cent and 1.7 per cent to Rs 1,903 per quintal and Rs 4,635 per quintal on reports of early monsoon forecasts by weather department. Sugar futures fell 0.96 per cent to Rs 1,441 per quintal on selling pressure. Castor seed was down 0.94 per cent to Rs 537 per 20 kg.

Barley gains

Tracking firm Jaipur spot markets, barley gained 0.75 per cent to Rs 1,180 per quintal amid strong demand from malt and beer industry.

On MCX, cardamom was down 0.74 per cent at Rs 604 per kg on account of profit taking on the recent rally.

MCX recorded a turnover of Rs 4,596 crore up to 5 pm, while it was Rs 2,016 crore on Monday.
