Electrical Goods States - Andhra Pradesh AP invites Chinese power equipment manufacturing cos Phalguna Jandhyala Hyderabad, May 12 With procurement of equipment becoming increasingly difficulty for the power companies wishing to set up new plants in the State, the Andhra Pradesh Government is looking at Chinese power equipment manufacturing firms to set up units here. “There are lot of new power projects slated to come up during the next four years in the State. But, one common problem that these companies have said which is delaying the projects is the non-availability of essential equipment like turbines, etc. So, we have urged a couple of Chinese companies to come and set up their operations in the State,” a senior Government official told Business Line. Recently, Government officials from the State visited China to study the petrochemical industry and also how the special economic zones (SEZs) were being developed. The official also said that a couple of companies have agreed to send a team to study the possibility of setting up units. “Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation has been entrusted with the job of engaging the services and help of Chinese companies to develop the master plan. China also has good solid and liquid waste disposal systems in their petrochemical regions and we want to see how useful it will be for our PCPIR project,” the official said.
