Science & Technology States - Maharashtra IIT Bombay invites ‘10 great ideas’ Our Bureau Mumbai, May 13 IIT Bombay has launched a global golden jubilee initiative to encourage “10 great ideas” in science and technology, from it’s students and faculty, both past and present. The initiative was launched recently by Mr Adi Godrej, Chairman, Godrej Group, and a member of IIT Bombay’s Advisory Council, along with Prof Ashok Misra, Director of IIT Bombay. Entries sent in to the initiative will be judged by a panel chaired by the former President, Mr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. The panel includes the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government, Dr R Chidambaram, the Head of Nanoscience in Cambridge University, Prof Mark Welland, the Infosys non-executive Chairman and Chief Mentor, Mr Narayana Murthy, and American biologist, Dr Craig Venter, among others. A Web site has been created for members to send in their entries by this October and the selection of the 10 greatest ideas will be completed by February next year. Owners of the ideas will be invited to present a white paper at a Round Table summit in March 2009, towards the end of IIT(B)’s Golden Jubilee celebration period, a press note said. The intellectual property for ideas contributed to this project will be owned by the ideator, and will receive recommendation and support by IIT (B) across relevant world institutions for possible implementation, the note added.
