Mathoda to hold zonal charge of Mumbai

New Delhi, May 13

In a minor rejig of work allocation, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) Chairman, Mr R.S. Mathoda, will now hold the zonal charge of Mumbai.

Mumbai is an important zonal charge as it accounts for about 37 per cent of the total direct taxes collections of the country. Mr Mathoda, who was earlier Member (IT) and Member (Audit & Judicial), took charge as CBDT Chairman on May 1.

Hitherto, the zonal charge of Mumbai was under Mr N.B. Singh, Member (P&V). Mr Singh has now been given the charge of Northern Zone, which accounts for about 15 per cent of the direct tax collections.

Meanwhile, official sources said that Mr S.S. Khan, Member (A&J) has been given the additional charge of Member (IT). Mr Khan is also holding charge of the Southern Zone. The CBDT is now in full strength with six members and a Chairman.
