Avaya appoints new MD

Pune, May 14 Business communications applications provider Avaya has announced the expansion of its R&D operations in Pune as part of its initiative to increase its foothold in India. The company has also appointed Mr Samir Gulve as Managing Director, Avaya India, and Vice President of Avaya’s Global Communication Solutions (GCS) division. Avaya is extending its expansion drive in the western region to tap the vast talent pool of developers available, and to strengthen its technical expertise in the area of business communications applications, the company said in a statement. Prior to joining Avaya, Mr Gulve was senior vice president, software and technology for Amdocs, a provider of support software for the telecom industry. He will be responsible for developing Avaya’s R&D strategy in India to globally manage offshore work, Mr Mark Leigh, President, Avaya Asia Pacific, said. —
