New players get spectrum in Kerala

New Delhi, May 15

Speeding up the spectrum allocation process, the Government has allocated frequencies to new operators in Kerala. While Shyam Telelink got spectrum for CDMA based mobile services, Datacom, Swan, Unitech and Tata Teleservices have been given initial radio frequency for launching GSM-based service. At present Kerala has four operators - Idea, Vodafone Essar, Bharti Airtel and BSNL. Entry of new players will result in lower mobile tariffs for consumers. - Our Bureau
