Jain Irrigation to invest Rs 550 cr in Jalgaon

Mumbai, May 15 Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Maharashtra Government for two mega projects entailing an investment of Rs 550 crore in Jalgaon. The investment will cover additional production of micro irrigation equipment, fruit and vegetable processing, tissue culture and other allied agricultural activities. Mr Vilasrao Deshmukh, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, said “though Jain Irrigation is now a global major in the field of micro irrigation, more than 80 per cent of investment and asset creation is in Maharashtra. Through the recent acquisitions in the US and Israel, they have brought home the latest in micro irrigation technology. Through micro irrigation they have given a new direction to water management and distribution in Maharashtra n and the whole country.”
