George Maijo to sell Yamaha bikes

T. Murrali

Chennai, May 16 The Chennai-based marine engines trading company George Maijo Industries Private Ltd (GMIPL) is entering the two-wheeler retail business to sell Yamaha motorcycles. The company will shortly open its showroom in Kollam, Kerala. .

The Managing Director of GMIPL, Mr Joseph Maijo, told Business Line that the company recently signed dealership agreement with Yamaha Motor India for opening a retail showroom in Kollam. It is in the process of getting authorisation from the two-wheeler company to start dealerships in Kozhikode and Kochi by June and Udupi in Karnataka by July, he said.

It may be noted that the existing Yamaha Motor dealers in Kollam and Kozhikode are winding up their operations due to non-viability of business.

Asked how GMIPL would manage when the existing Yamaha dealerships were withdrawing, Mr Maijo said the proposed showrooms would have two-wheelers and Yamaha out-board engines for marine applications under one roof.
