Spot rubber hits Rs 123/kg

Kottayam, May 17 Physical rubber prices made sharp gains in the weekend session. Covering groups and purchase agents turned extremely aggressive procuring the raw materiel even at higher levels. RSS 4 flared up to Rs 123 from Rs 121 a kg while market made all-round gains amidst low volumes. We expect a positive opening on Monday, a trader told Business line. Since we suffer from acute supply problems, any increase in buying volumes would lift the prices to further highs, he added.

Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 123 (121); RSS-5: 120 (118.50); ungraded: 116.50 (116); ISNR 20: 118.50 (117.50) and latex 60 per cent: 82.50 (82.50).
