Letters Responsible tourism The article ‘Towards responsible tourism’ (Business Line, May 13) is relevant and timely. India is a well-recognised tourist destination, both domestically and internationally, and, from that standpoint, all the stakeholders in India’s tourism need to contribute towards what is rightly called “responsible tourism”. In this context, all out efforts must be made to stamp out terrorism. The people — be it in Kashmir, Gujarat, Kerala, Rajasthan, or any other State for that matter — need to stand up against terrorism and create a favourable climate for our own living and for tourism to flourish responsibly. We all stand to gain — economically, socially and culturally. The Governments, be it at the Central or State levels — must contribute to maintain and develop excellent and affordable travel and stay arrangements in terms of security, hygiene and general level of cleanliness, and the overall environment. Continued lapses on our part will not be pardoned by our future generations. Inder Kilam Faridabad More Stories on : Letters | Tourism
