L&T bags orders worth Rs 635 cr from UAE, Oman

Mumbai, May 20 Larsen & Toubro Ltd has bagged four electrical project orders worth Rs 635 crore from the UAE and Oman.

The projects will be executed by the electrical projects and Gulf operations vertical of L&T’s construction division. Two of these orders valued at Rs 521crore were secured from Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority and involve supply and construction of five 33/11 kV GIS sub-stations and 33 kV cabling works.

5 sub-stations

Of the five sub-stations, three 33/11 kV sub-stations with 151 km of 33 kV cabling works will be carried out at the industrial city of Abu Dhabi. The other two 33/11 kV sub-stations will be established at the Western Region of Abu Dhabi Emirate (Gayathy and Madinat Zayed).

Each sub-station consists of 33 kV gas insulated switchgear, 11 kV air insulated switchgear, 15/20 MVA 33/11kV transformers, sub-station control and monitoring system, protection and telecommunication system.

The contract includes design and construction of buildings with complete set of utilities such as air-conditioning, fire protection and lighting systems to be completed in 18 months. PB Power is the consultant for the project.

L&T is already executing 11 33/11 kV sub-stations and two 132 kV sub-station in Abu Dhabi.

L&T’s subsidiary L&T (Oman) LLC at Muscat has bagged two orders valued at Rs 114 crore. One order is from the Oman Electricity & Transmission Company for construction of 132 kV grid sub-station and transmission lines at Saham area of Oman.

The other order is from Muscat Electricity Distribution Company for 33/11 kV sub-station at the Mabella Region of Oman. Both projects are to be completed within 10-13 months. The scope of the work includes design, procurement, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of GIS, power transformers, protection systems and associated civil works.
