Chennai, May 22

BharatMatrimony.com and Metropolis Health Services India will jointly offer pre-marital check-ups for prospective brides and grooms with health profiles made available in the Web Site voluntarily by individuals.

This will make matchmaking on the Web more transparent, according to Mr Murugavel Jankiraman, Chief Executive Officer, Bharatmatrimony.com.

For Rs 2,500

Members of BharatMatrimony.com can avail themselves of the pre-marital health check-up at Metropolis for Rs 2,500 and upload the certificate as part of their profile on the Web Site.

This would be highlighted as ‘health profile’ on the site, he told newspersons.

China and West Asia have made pre-marital health check-up compulsory, while in India there is no sign of introducing this, he said.

‘Soul to Soul’

The pre-martial health check-up called “Soul to Soul” will help in diagnosing hereditary disorders like ‘thalassemia and sickle cell anaemia’ and chronic infectious diseases like HIV, Mr G.S.K. Velu, Managing Director, Metropolis Health Services, said.

The pre-marital check-up is to promote voluntary compliance of the health-related details.

Pre-marital health check up will prevent untoward instances of contracting infectious or sexually transmitted diseases and reduce health risk for the progeny, he said.

Plans expansion

Bharatmatrimony.com will soon expand its operations in other countries, including South East Asia, said Mr Janakiraman. Part of the Consim Info Pvt, Bharatmatrimony.com recently tied up with Nokia for providing matchmaking services to mobile users.

“We are redefining matchmaking using technology to empower tradition,” he said at a meeting on ‘Meet success first hand’ series organised by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (Tamil Nadu branch).
