The Hindu Business Line : Dr Reddy's launches gastritis drug

Dr Reddy's Laboratories Ltd launched Omez Insta for patients suffering from acute gastritis and those on Ryle's tube feeding in India. The drug (Omeprazole 20mg plus sodium bicarbonate 1680mg buffer), is a powder formulation.

Omeprazole, internationally referred to as IR-Ome, is the first and only oral Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) available as powder for oral suspension. The formulation is approved by the US FDA and is available in the US market since October 2004.

"Omez Insta is available in sachets in a pleasant mint flavour,'' Dr Reddy's said in a release. The PPI market is valued at Rs 540 crore with an estimated growth rate of 14 per cent, it added. Omez is the leading brand of Dr Reddy's in the gastrointestinal segment and is the number one brand in 14 countries. - Our Bureau
