Awards & Honours States - Kerala Canara Bank gets ‘best bank’ award Our Bureau Thiruvananthapuram, May 22 Canara Bank has received the ‘best bank’ award from Kerala’s Kudumbasree Mission for 2007-08. The award is in recognition of the bank’s performance in areas of poverty eradication and housing development for the poorer sections of the society in the State, according to a release from the bank. The bank has been ranked first for the ‘Bhavanasree’ micro-housing scheme of Kudumbasree and the Poverty Eradication Mission of the State Government. The bank disbursed loans worth Rs 508 lakh under the category to the members of the Kudumbasree’s community-based organisations. Canara Bank has also been adjudged the third best bank in the State for supporting the ‘linkage banking’ scheme of Kudumbasree.
