Our Bureau

New Delhi, May 23 Punjab National Bank on Friday said that it does not envisage any problems in the implementation of the farm debt waiver and debt relief scheme announced by the Government.

“The guidelines issued on Friday have removed all doubts and are sufficiently clear. Implementation of the scheme by June 30 should not be a problem,” said Dr K.C. Chakrabarty, Chairman and Managing Director of the bank, told Business Line.

The Union Cabinet on Friday gave its nod to the guidelines for the implementation of the farm debt waiver and relief scheme by scheduled commercial banks and cooperative banks. Dr Chakrabarty had recently said that the bank’s exposure under the farm debt waiver and relief scheme would be about Rs 2,000 crore.
