Farm credit Package for prompt payment of farm loans on cards Our Bureau Hyderabad, May 25 The Union Government is working on an incentive package for farmers who made prompt repayment of loans, according to the Union Minister of Agriculture, Mr Sharad Pawar. The Ministry of Agriculture is in talks with the Finance Ministry for suitable incentives for prompt repayment of agriculture loans, Mr Pawar told newspersons here after addressing the State level convention of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) here on Sunday. The motive behind the move to provide incentives was to ensure that no farmer should regret prompt repayment in the wake of Rs 72,000-crore agricultural loan waiver announced by the Government recently, he said. Mr Pawar said a proposal to hike the minimum support price (MSP) for paddy farmers would be sent to the Cabinet by his Ministry. “A concrete announcement will be made only after 8-10 days in this regard. I can only say that our focus is on paddy and there will be a hike in MSP,” he said. On the issue of separate statehood for Telangana, he said NCP was in favour of creation of Telangana and there was no need for a second States Reorganisation Committee. More Stories on : Farm credit
