EEPC to hold expo in Hyderabad

Madurai, May 27 The Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) will be organising the India Engineering and Exhibition meet at Hyderabad during November-December.

About 400 overseas buyers will be participating, providing an opportunity for small scale units to display their goods and meet the buyers, according to Mr M. Ganesan, Regional Director, EEPC.

Addressing the role of EEPC at an export awareness programme organised by the Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale industries Association (Maditssia) here recently, he said that the share of southern region has risen from 17.50% in 2005-06 to 19.23% (provisional) during 2007-08. State-wise, Tamil Nadu has been a leading contributor with 67%, followed by Karnataka (19%) and Andhra Pradesh (13%). The contribution from Kerala has been less than 1%, he said.

Copper and allied products, commercial vehicles and passenger cars, automobile accessories and components have a lion’s share in the exports from southern region. Significant volume of exports has also been done in the product groups like electric power machinery, textile machinery and spares, industrial castings etc. he added.
