Tea Prices irregular at Coimbatore tea sales Our Bureau Coimbatore, May 27 The total offerings of tea at the weekly auction held at the Tea Trade Association here amounted to 6.27 lakh kg with leaf grades accounting for 2.11 lakh kg and the balance 4.16 lakh kg of dust. There was less demand for orthodox leaf and selective enquiries from exporters. CIS exports were selective. Few invoices of larger Nilgiris highgrowns remained barely steady, rest quoted irregular, easier by Rs 4-6. There was fair demand for Orthodox dust. Few volumes on offer sold at steady levels. Exporters’ operationFew exporters and internal buyers operated. CTC leaf grades witnessed better demand. Medium and plainer bolder grades remained barely steady, larger brokens ruled fully firm and smaller brokens quoted dearer by Rs 2. Exporters operated on bolder grades. HUL was selective. There was good demand for CTC dust. Popular good liquoring teas, especially bolder grades ruled dearer by Re 1 to Rs 2, medium and plainer bolder grades were dearer by Rs 2-3. AVT and Indco operated on good liquoring teas albeit selectively. The orthodox highgrowns moved in the Rs 62 and Rs 68 price band. More Stories on : Tea
