Chennai, May 28 Mahindra Holidays and Resorts India Ltd, a subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra, on Monday announced the launch of a new resort at Puducherry.

The resort, built at a cost of Rs 35 crore, is marketed under the company’s ‘Zest’ brand, which stands for budget holidays.

The resort was inaugurated by the Union Minister for Tourism Mrs Ambika Soni. The resort, which is located on the sea-front, is a three-hour drive from Chennai and houses 125 rooms. A press release from MHRIL says that Zest Big Beach resort occupies only 8 per cent of the 24 acres that the company owns there. A large swathe of land has been dedicated to grow “highly endangered tropical deciduous evergreen forest ecosystem containing several unique rare species of flora and fauna.”
