Our Bureau New Delhi, May 29 National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) today announced a net profit of Rs 1,339.5 crore for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2007-08, down 22.78 per cent as compared with Rs 1,734.7 crore recorded in the corresponding quarter last fiscal. The fall in profit is to a certain extent on account of high provisioning for expected wage revision in public sector enterprises. Total income during the quarter, however, went up by 20.32 per cent to Rs 11,487.5 crore as compared to Rs 9,546.7 crore in the fourth quarter of the previous year. DividendThe company also declared a final dividend of 8 per cent taking the total dividend for 2007-08 to 35 per cent. Earlier, in February this year, NTPC had paid 27 per cent interim dividend. Full-year numbersFor full 2007-08, the public sector power utility posted a net profit of Rs 7,414.8 crore as against Rs 6,864.7 crore last year. Total income during the year increased to Rs 40,017.7 crore from Rs 35,380.7 crore in 2006-07. The company has informed the BSE that after consolidation the net profit for the year, after minority interest, stood at Rs 7,469.9 crore as against Rs 6,898.3 crore in 2006-07.
