Increasing wealth of politicians

This is with reference to the article “Frightening leap in politicians’ assets” (Business Line, May 30).

One of the directive principles of the Constitution says that the Government should enact laws that prevent the concentration of wealth in a few hands.

Politicians conveniently forget to enact such laws and go on increasing their assets.

Yet another directive principle is for the implementation of complete prohibition.

One wonders why this directive too has been ignored over the years.

As a result, money gets concentrated with liquor barons, who play with the lives of people.
