Policy States - Andhra Pradesh AP raises commission for fair price shop dealers Our Bureau Hyderabad, June 3 The Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to increase the commission paid to fair price shop dealers in the State against monthly disposal of foodgrains to cardholders. The commission has been increased to Rs 25 a quintal from Rs 17.11 as earlier, in case of Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada, and to Rs 20 a quintal from Rs 12.92 for other areas in the State. There has been a long pending demand from the fair price dealers in the State for an increase in the commission paid to them. This hike is expected to cost an additional burden of Rs 25.46 crore to the Ex-chequer. The Chief Minister cleared the hike, while reviewing Civil Supplies issues at a high-level meeting here on Tuesday. Mr Kasu Krishna Reddy, Minister for Civil Supplies told newspersons that the Chief Secretary was asked to take immediate steps to end the agony of dealers by ensuring speedy disposal of the cases booked against them for indulging in malpractices such as diversion of subsidised rice. The meeting also decided to fill 2,980 vacant fair price shops and also existing vacancies of 43 posts of civil supplies deputy tahsildars, 46 assistant supply officers, 432 different posts at mandal stock points and 27 others in the vigilance wing. Mr Krishna Reddy also warned dealers against diverting or hoarding PDS items and against accepting mortgage of ration cards, especially the white ones. Stringent action would be taken if any dealer was found guilty on this count. The Minister said as announced earlier, palm oil would be sold to white cardholders for Rs 45 a litre from July and red-gram dal for Rs 30 a kg. The subsidised supply of these two items would cost the Government Rs 400 crore. More Stories on : Policy | Foodgrains | Channels and Franchises | Andhra Pradesh
