Our Bureau

Kolkata, June 4 The Left Front has called a 12-hour “general strike” in West Bengal on June 5, and the Trinamool Congress a 12-hour “Bangla bandh” on June 6, to protest against the announcement by the Centre of an increase in the price of petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 3 a litre respectively, and the price of LPG by Rs 50 a litre with effect from midnight today.

The Bharatiya Janata Party, too, has issued a separate call for a bandh in West Bengal on the same issue on June 6.
