Our Bureau

Hyderabad, June 4 The Andhra Pradesh Government is planning to launch more special training programmes (STP) for economically backward students to enable them pursue higher education, free of cost, in IT and work in the best of companies. The State Government had tied up with top IT companies such as Infosys, Wipro, TCS, IBM and Oracle to conduct the programmes last year in the twin cities.

The Energy, Coal and Minorities Welfare Minister, Mr Mohammed Ali Shabbir, said that the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, will inaugurate the fifth batch of STP, run by the Institute for Electronic Governance exclusively for minority students, at Haj House on Sunday.

Under the programme, students belonging to SC, ST, Backward Classes and minority communities will be provided technical training in IT, soft skills, English language skills and process management skills.During the six-month programme, students would be provided with laptops. Emphasis would be on students hailing from low income group families. Free food and accommodation would be provided for them.
