L&T to conduct postal ballot for biz revamp

Our Bureau

Mumbai, June 4 Construction and engineering company Larsen & Toubro has decided to conduct a postal ballot to seek shareholders’ approval for restructuring its business by transferring, selling or disposing of its Medical Equipment & System.

The board of directors on May 29 had approved, subject to shareholders approval, restructuring the business of the company by transferring, selling, and/or disposing of the Medical Equipment & System business unit to a subsidiary company or to any other entity as a going concern, L&T informed the BSE.

The company has appointed Mr S.N. Ananthasubramanian, a practising Company Secretary, as scrutiniser for the postal ballot process. The postal ballot forms should reach the scrutiniser before July 9 and the result of the ballot would be announced on or before July 14, the company said.

The medical equipment and systems business was established in 1987 to make medical equipment. L&T manufactures a range of products, which include monitors, ECG machines, syringe pumps, defibrillators and cardiac resuscitation systems, ultrasound and colour dopplers and speciality ambulances.
