Mangalore, June 5

The A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, managed by Nitte Education Trust, has been granted the status of deemed university. A press release from the trust said here on Thursday that Nitte University has been formed and declared as deemed to be university in a notification of the UGC (University Grants Commission) dated June 4. The release said that Mr N. Vinay Hegde, President of Nitte Education Trust, will be the Chancellor of the university, and Dr Shantha ram Shetty, former Dean of K.S. Hegde Medical Academy, will be the first Vice-Chancellor.
